Teppanyaki cuisine is an exciting and visually stimulating style of cooking that has caught on in the US in recent years. The most widely known Teppanyaki franchise in the US is Benihana, aka “Asian Hooters” where Michael, Jim, Dwight, and Bern-Dog visited for some Nog-a-sakes (One part eggnog, three parts sake).
Although the theatrics of the meal are popular in the US, Teppanyaki isn’t synonymous with tasty showmanship. The word teppanyaki refers to the large flat iron griddle the food is prepared on.
